Membership Eligibility

Membership is open to graduates, former students, and current or former faculty of Tama Art University, its graduate school, and Tama Art Academy who agree with the club's mission and can participate in some capacity. We welcome as many participants as possible from the East Coast, West Coast, and across the United States. Temporary membership for Japan-based visitors is also available.

Article 1 — Founding Philosophy

Founded on the belief that "seeing and knowing is power," we chose New York — a city that has been a vital stage for artistic creation for half a century — to seek and nurture our own "voice." The optimism and hungry spirit that drove us here has defined our creative journey. Today, in an era of extreme information, the significance of the Tamabi Alumni NY Club lies in helping each other see, know, and understand the changes of our times.

Article 2 — Name

The official name is "The Alumni Association of Tama Art University New York Club," abbreviated as "Tamabi Alumni New York Club."

Article 3 — Purpose

The purpose of this club is the exchange of information and the mutual development and fellowship of its members. Through art and design activities, we aim to foster growth and progress among members and contribute to world peace through cross-cultural exchange.

Article 4 — Activities

The club organizes regular meetings, website production, seminars, and other activities centered on creative arts. Additional projects may be planned and executed based on member requests.

Article 5 — Members

Regular members are graduates or former students of Tama Art University residing in the Americas. J-Members are alumni or faculty based in Japan or other regions. Supporter members are anyone who agrees with the club's mission, regardless of affiliation or location.

Article 6 — General Assembly

The General Assembly is held once a year, requiring attendance or proxies from at least half of all members. Decisions are made by majority vote. Officer terms are one year. Agenda items include board elections, financial reports, budget approval, bylaw amendments, fee changes, and new project proposals.

Article 7 — Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of 8 to 11 members and is responsible for club operations. The board elects five officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and PR Director, each serving one-year terms with eligibility for re-election.

Article 8 — Membership Fees

Regular members and J-Members: no enrollment fee, free annual membership. Supporter members: $20. Special event fees may be collected as determined by the board when additional funding is needed.

Article 9 — Operations

Revenue comes from membership fees, external aid, and donations. The club's registered address is at the President's residence. These bylaws take effect from the date of the first General Assembly.
